2006 NFL Draft

Wow! What can I say about the draft. Except for the fact that I stayed up and watched most of it. Sad, I know; but I wasn't alone at least. We were busy discussing all this stuff mentioned below. Oh yeah, I was ecstatic that 5 Ohio State [wooh!] players were drafted in the first round. That was cool.

Anyways, along with everyone, I was surprised at the first pick. Not shocked, but surprised. I was kind of happy that Bush didn't go to the Texans, but I didn't like New Orleans any better. Personally I think that the Saints should have tried to trade him later. The running back position is too deep at NO. However it could turn out to be okay. I just think they are investing too much money. Also, I was really excited with the New York Jets' picks. When they decided to take Ferguson, and then Mangold [wooh!], I was hoping that it would be really cool if they took Winston Justice. That line had the potential to be amazing! I was dissappointed when they traded down.

I was shocked to see how many defensive players were going ahead of offensive. Even the good receivers, tight ends, and linemen were getting pushed back. I was happy to see that Santonio Holmes [wooh!] was the first receiver off the board. Also, that Pittsburgh traded up to get him. I think he'll do well there.

I was very happy to see A.J. Hawk [wooh!] go in the Top 5, but I was dissappointed that the went to the Packers. I wished he went to the Raiders. But he's got a good LB line at Green Bay so he should do well. I hope so.

I was also happy that Bobby Carpenter [wooh!] went midway in the first. He was slated to go later. Too bad he's on Dallas...

Arizona is really lucky that they were able to take Leinart. Contrary to what everyone says, I believe that he is pretty lucky to go to a team that has the chance to be pretty good next year. He has a chance to do what Ben Roethlisberger did in Pittsburgh. He will have amazing receivers with the Cardinals; not to mention the brand new stadium. So he'll have a great training facility. Dennis Green isn't a bad coach either. Look what he did with Culpepper.

As everyone has already said, the next biggest surprise was Donte Whitner [wooh!]. I didn't have him down until the second round. I think Buffalo was just concentrating on picking up a safety, and they missed out on Michael Huff [who, by the way, is just nasty]. (nasty=good)

Anyways, I might as well give my prediction of who will be good and who I think will not do well in the NFL.
Rookie of the Year: A.J. Hawk - Not a biased opinion, I just think that he has the greatest chance of breaking out. I feel he will get a lot of playing time. Or Michael Huff. Maybe Vernon Davis. However, if Bush manages to get 1000 yards, its in the bag for him.
Will do well this year: Leinart, Bush, Holmes, DeAngelo Williams, Chad Jackson, Devin Hester, and Marcus Vick [haha]
Crash and Burn: Williams, Young (I just don't think he's ready; he's just had a lucky college career), Cutler, Sinorice Moss (too short), Winston Justice, and LenDale White (ask Ron Dayne).

Now, knowing my luck, the list will probably reverse, A.J. Hawk will get injured in preseason, and Vince Young will get Rookie of the Year and win a Super Bowl. That is just how it goes for me.

Final thought: I was depressed to learn that most of the players are younger than me.
