FINALLY! A reasonable article on Clarett....

This is the only article in the past 2 years that has even a slightly sympathetic view towards Maurice Clarett. I was very happy to see this article. I felt really bad for him when he recorded the low times. However, he is a POWER running back, not a speed back. I watched him run in real life at college at Ohio State. He isn't the fastest, but he is a natural. I feel that the combines don't too justice to the players. Teams concentrate too much on the combine. You have to watch the player play on the field. Not everything is about 40 yards. Especially for running backs. They need to worry about 5 yards. What they can do in those first 5 yards is how you determine a great running back. I can't wait to see what team takes the chance on Clarett. I have faith that he will prove himself in the NFL. Then all the critics will be eating their words. Just wait and see....

Give Clarett a break

In Response...

I'd like to offer my defense on the two comments that were posted about one of my posts. First, about hating the media. Allow me to rephrase my opinion. I like having the media around. Yes, obviously it is where I get my information; I have no choice. But there are other factors as to why I made that statement. What I hate about the media, is that it seems to me as if they are not running the programs for our benefit, but to make more money for themselves. The news in general is the people's right to know - objectively. Media centers will put whatever "spin" is necessary on the story in order to "reel in" the consumer. How can, or better yet, why should a station be labeled as "conservative" or "liberal?" Shouldn't they both be the same? I mean, if the same event happened at the same time and same place - SAME STORY! How can there be two sides to it. We the viewers/readers should be making the decision ourselves. We shouldn't have to be convinced. That is part of being human. We have that innate ability to make choices and opinions. Like a textbook, we should be fed the information as it really is.

The media has played a huge role on many of the major events in the past couple years. Off the top of my head, I could mention the 2000 U.S. Presidential election. I'm not going to write too much about that because its been done over and over, but that was all the media networks' fault. They have learned from that mistake and have fixed the problem. But, flash forward to 2004. This election was totally a media war. There were clearly defined lines that separated stations with certain political parties. FOX networks were clearly more conservative, while Rolling Stone magazine was entirely anti-Republican. Whatever. The election is over and I don't want to talk about that anymore.

Back to this MJ trial. I made that original comment because for the past 10 years, the media has been trashing MJ like crazy. I blame them for the shape that he is in. He was possibly one of the most reclusive people in the country because every time he would show, there would be a million newspapers with him on the cover. I'd be a little crazy too if I didn't leave my house for 10 years. And every time that I did, I was made fun of by millions of people. All because they wanted to sell more papers or get higher ratings. It is also partly human nature to blame. How could you expect to make money if you write about the normal activities of a person? Human beings like to see the weird stuff in the world, other people in distress, or fantasy relationships. How else do you think that reality TV is a success? It is just preying on human nature. The MJ case will be very twisted because he is a giant cash cow for the networks. IT IS MICHAEL JACKSON!!! I don't care who you are. Deny it if you want to. YOU LIKED MICHAEL JACKSON!!! Everyone liked him. There wasn't a single person who was like: "What is this crap?" Even now, you might not like him, but you still like his music. And if you don't, it is only because of what the media makes of him that has changed your opinion. (Now if you honestly didn't like him, that didn't apply to you. You know who you are) Imagine this: What if from 1993, before MJ's court case then, what if he just showed up from 10 years of hiding? What would you say then?

The reason the media isn't being fair towards MJ is because the way they are reporting the information on this trial, it is as if they are saying that he is already guilty. Almost as if they want him to go to jail. Just to see how he handles it. Almost as if it is some TV show. It isn't a show. This is someone's life. Someone who has a family and kids. It isn't right to run someone down so low, over and over again, just to make more money for yourself. That is why I HATE the media.

And about the spelling: So I left one "o" out. I rarely have ANY spelling errors on my entire site. So don't tell me to learn how to spell. At least I can make a cohesive sentence. I had to read your post 3 times in order to get right. USE A COMMA WHEN NECESSARY!!! And when you quote, you don't change the words in the quote, even if it is a pronoun. Everyone knows that the "I" is not you if it is in a quote.

E-Mail: Only in America

I saw this email a couple years ago. It recently recirculated back to me. I still find it interesting...

Only in America
1. Only in America......can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

2. Only in America.......are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.

3. Only in America.......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

4. Only in America......do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

5. Only in America.......do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

6. Only in America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

7. Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

8. Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

9. Only in America......do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

10. Only in America.......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

Scariest thing in my Life!!! Well not really...

Today I saw the scariest thing in my life. It was about 4:00 PM when my friend came to visit me in my room. I left the room at 5:00 PM to go to his room for something. When I came down at 7:00, there was this HUGE swarm of wasps building a nest right above my door in the hallway. It wasn't there when I left! They must have built this nest in less than an hour! There were so many wasps, my friend and I totally freaked out! I live on the 4th Floor, which is like 50 or 60 feet up and you could see the nest from the ground. We left the building to go do something, and when we came back, the nest had TRIPLED in size! It was like taking up half the hallway. Not to mention all the wasps flying around the nest. I couldn't go in my room (probably cuz I'm a wuss). So I ended up crashing at my friend's place until like 2:00 AM. I finally went down and got the security guard. I had to have him take his flashlight and check what it was like now. The nest had shrunk some and they were not flying around. I finally got in my room, but that nest is still out there. They say that they are going to smoke them out. So that means that I'm gonna be blocked in my room the whole next day. I'm guessing, just because that is how things work here. Anyways, that was my story for the day. Oh yeah, not to mention the flying 6-inch cockroach...

Whoever just read this is probably thinking that they just wasted 5 minutes of their lives. I'm sorry. However, you chose to read it; I didn't force you.....

Check this out

Michael Jackson is bringing in celebrity witnesses for his trial. Isn't this like the weirdest list? Here's an excerpt:

--witness list includes NBA star Kobe Bryant, Elizabeth Taylor, illusionist David Blaine, TV newsman Ed Bradley, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and relatives of actor Marlon Brando--

Ha ha. Kobe! Why Kobe? Especially, why Kobe? He definitely doesn't have good rapport with the Cali public. David Blaine? He just might be one of the scariest people on the planet. Nick Carter? Relatives of Marlon Brando? Hmmm. Interesting....

I think it will be impossible for the defense to allow witnesses. Michael Jackson has had too much media publicity - good or bad. I don't know if there is any single person in the United States, let alone California, that hasn't heard of Michael Jackson. Also, that they haven't already formed an opinion on him.

This trial is going to be crazy. But that is probably because of the
media though. The media always blows up stuff and twists it around to make money. I hate the media; to bad I know someone who works for them....

This is excellent!

Instant official review is necessary in college football. After the NFL has had such success with it and the Big Ten (woo hoo!) proved it to be worthy, it should be a no-brainer.

NCAA to implement replay nationally

I was just thinking about this when I was home

Norm Chow is amazing. He is the best offensive coordinator in the entire sport of football. He knows exactly how to run his offenses and tear apart the other teams defense. I firmly believe that he is the key to why the USC Trojans do so well. After the Orange Bowl, I was telling my Dad about this guy. I was telling him that he should be given a chance in the NFL. I am very anxious to see how he does with the Titans. I'm also excited to see how the Trojans will do. I would bet that they don't do nearly as well next year. I would be very happy about that.

Norm! Titans welcome new OC Chow to NFL

--But it is the beginning of the end. To pretend that Oakland assistant Steve Sarkisian (should he return to USC) can churn out quarterbacks like a coach who has developed three Heisman Trophy winners (Ty Detmer, Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart), not to mention Philip Rivers, Steve Young, Robbie Bosco, Jim McMahon and Gifford Nielsen, is foolish.--

What is wrong with OSU?!?!

Ohio State just keeps digging itself a deeper and deeper hole. Athletic Director Andy Geiger is become a household name on ESPN for the flurry of infractions. He must be going crazy.

But you know that OSU isn't the only school doing these kind of things. It's all part of the college sports world. Every school does this. OSU is only getting caught because we are under the microscope right now. The media like going after us because our school is only big with people who are somehow associated with it. I've never heard anybody say they like OSU. In fact, I've never even heard anybody say that we are good. Even on television and stuff. We are never mentioned. People just like to hate on us. Well hopefully we'll get through all the trouble.

Ohio State looks into dental work accusations

--"True heroes bleed Scarlet and Grey"--

AAAAAHHHHHH!!!! Why is this happening???!!!

As I was writing the previous post (about Reggie Miller), I was saying to myself that I hope Jerome Bettis doesn't retire either. Guess what, right after I posted that, I was browsing on ESPN and saw this article. All my players are leaving. That's is one player from each of the 3 major sports. I mean, I do understand, but still - this sucks.

NFL keeps hopping on overloaded Bus

First Barry, now my other player...

First Barry Larkin gets ready to leave, now Reggie Miller. All my favorite players are going one by one. Maybe he'll get that ring this year. Let's hope...
USATODAY.com - Reggie Miller to retire at season's end

--Pacer Reggie Miller is the NBA's all-time leader in three-point shots made and attempted.--

--...widely regarded as a likely inductee into the National Basketball Hall of Fame after his retirement. He is the Pacers' all-time leader in scoring, assists, steals and several other categories, and ranks 14th on the NBA's all-time scoring list.--

Side note: Karl Malone is also retiring. He was a great player, but I don't really care for him too much. I lost too much respect for him when he went to the Lakers. Same for Gary Payton. They got what they deserve. A pounding in the Finals by the Pistons (who totally deserved to win).

Who thought of this?

Latest Bin Laden Videotape Wishes America 'A Crappy Valentine's Day'

Finally.....After 2 years!!!

I've been waiting for 2 years for this to come....

50 Cent's Valentine's Day Present

Let's hope its good....

I've been gone for too long....

Wow! It's been about a month since I last posted. Well, mainly because I didn't have internet for that period of time. A lot has happened in that short month. I went to Dubai (which by the way is off the hooka - i mean hook), i came back to india and move out of my old place into a new apartment building, i started a new series of exams right away, and one of my favorite times of the year.... the super bowl (to be discussed in a later post). It was a pretty fast moving month for me. I apologize to all my regular readers (i don't actually know if i have any, but I'd like to think I do) for being out so long and leaving you all without something interesting to read over the past month. Take comfort in knowing that I am back. Ha ha.

P.S. - Thanks to all those wished me a happy birthday. It's a little freaky, but nice nonetheless. Thanks again.
