Good article on College Football Freshman eligibility

Fragile freshmen

Excerpt (closing statement):
"My suggestion -- freshman ineligibility -- is impractical in today's paradigm. Too much money is being spent on facilities that would shame the Taj Mahal. Too little attention was given women's athletics for too many years. Too many dollars are being paid to too few at the top of the coaching chain in the feeding frenzy for victories.

The essence of all this is that things are not always as they appear in the world of superstar kids. Pull for your team, enjoy the great athletic ability of these youngsters, but remember in the final analysis they really are just our children, and they really do need to grow up. Just like the rest of us. "

Short Guide to the "Battle of the Bulge"

Unless you have living in a cave for the past few weeks, you probably have heard about the controversy about the bulge protruding from President Bush's back during the Presidential debates. I was interested in the story, so I tried to do some further research....

There are many theories as to what the bulge contained. The most obvious, and what most Anti-Republicans hoped for, is that the President had a radio transmitter of some sort that would allow him to talk to his aides during the election. At the same time, this might seem like the most logical explanation too. Because as the President of the country, he could easily get a transmitter that could work without an earpiece. There are new technologies such as the cochlear implant or even a transmitter in the teeth. The "tooth radio" has been seen frequently in recent movies. However, why would they leave such an obvious bulge so visible. I'm sure with his resources, he could have the most hidden transmitter available. Although, if you listened closely to his statements, many of them were answered very oddly. I mentioned this on an earlier post, about how Bush wouldn't clearly answer the question. I noticed that he would start to talk in one direction, but by the end would be talking about something completly different. Almost as if he was told to talk about something else instead. In the end though, no matter how shady the Republicans are, I don't know if they would risk this kind of deceit. If word ever truly got out, it would be a major blow to the administration. However, most Republicans, as loyal as they are, probably wouldn't even care. If they cared and actually "chose," there's no way that they would choose Bush in the first place; just based on common sense.

Bulge 2

Another theory, one put forth by the administration, is the the bulge was merely a "pucker" in Bush's jacket. They even called in the Presidential tailor to confirm. He agreed that is happened whenever Bush crossed his arms. This is utter crap.

A third, more plausible theory is that there may be some medical condition that plagues Bush. Some say that it is a back brace, or even a heart monitor. If it is either of these, I would say that it is a heart monitor. Because I'm sure the debate is quite an emotional strain, they would need to monitor his heart just in case. I could understand why the adminitration would not want to release this information to the public. The media and people in general would take it to the extreme. We all saw how much frenzy there was about Dick Cheney's condition. People would be scared that Bush could have a heart failure, which would move Cheney into office. Then Cheney might die, and we'd end up with the next person. I don't remember if it would be Ashcroft or someone else. I forgot the order. This would scare many voters and seriously hurt the administration. However, when monitoring the heart, the pack should be lower and on the chest, not the back.

Here is an interesting bit of information: It was reported that the Bush administration specifically and repeatedly asked to make sure that the cameras would never show the two candidates from behind. Isn't that just a little suspicious? It was an agreement set between both campaigns prior to the debate. Why would they do this? Obviously they were trying to hide something.

Bulge 3

The theory about a medical condition is probably the best one. As I as searching, there are pictures that show the bulge in times when Bush is not in a suit, or even at a formal event. There is a picture of him in a T-shirt and the bulge is very visible.

I came across this.....thought it was kinda funny...

This site was talking about things from 1993....

One of the posted questions:

What did wearing a Starter Jacket really represent?

The Reply: Starter jackets weren't just a fashionable way to stay warm in the winter--they were a sign of how much your parents loved you.

Remember when everyone had a Starter jacket? They weren't cheap either. Even girls would wear the jackets. Everyone from toddlers to old men. If you didn't have one, you weren't cool. I remember having a Jacksonville Jaguars pouch jacket when they had just become an expansion team. It was great. I think I might still have it.....

Where did Starter clothing go? I remember there were Starter stores everywhere. Now you don't see it anywhere except at Wal-Mart. They never did have anything good except for the jacket. Plus their stuff was crazy expensive.

Sirius Users.... This is hott....

Eminem going to Sirius?

Kill BIll Vol. 1 OST

The soundtrack to Kill Bill Volume 1 is amazing! I haven't listened to Volume 2 yet, cuz I'm waiting to see the movie. Yeah, I haven't seen the movie cuz I've been in India since it came out. Plus I've been studying and stuff. I can't wait though, I'll see it when I go home next....

Florida Voting....

I read in the paper that Florida has started voting already. Is this a good thing? Suppose someone leaks out the ballot count, then the lagging political party could begin to coerce other people to vote ; those who hadn't voted already. At the same time, it would allow people time to vote. They wouldn't be able to say that they couldn't make it to the booth on election day itself. I don't know whether its a good thing or not.

Let's just hope that Kerry comes out on top.....

Third Presidential Debate / PSA

I watched some of the third debate today. I've never actually watched Bush debate before, nor Kerry. Bush was so bad! I just couldn't believe that this guy might actually win again. Kerry was much better. At least he answered the questions. Bush didn't even answer the questions directly. He would always change the subject or skew off course. All the polls later agreed with me. Except for those greedy Republicans. Yeah, Kerry may want to raise taxes or impose gun control, but at least he is thinking about the nation as a whole. Bush and the other conservatives always think about themselves first. They don't say it like that, but when they mention that they don't want to increase taxes and that people should be allowed guns, that is essentially what they are saying. That's just my opinion, though. I guess most people already knew that cuz that's the meaning behind being a conservative. Also, about gun control, Bush totally dodged the question about the assault weapons ban. I was interested in that question too. I really think there should be stricter laws on gun control. When Bush said that the best defense against improper use of firearms was to have harsher punishments I just started laughing like crazy. That doesn't make any sense. He's basically saying that it is okay to sell the guns to anyone, and then let us just hope that it isn't used improperly. As Kerry said, you have to stop the guns at the source - STOP SELLING THE GUNS IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! In my opinion, I feel that this is PLAIN COMMON SENSE! Whatever, though. I feel that the only way that Kerry can win is if everyone who wants Kerry in office, ACTUALLY VOTES!! Many people "talk the talk" and "walk the walk," but it doesn't mean anything if you do not vote on November 2nd!!!

As election time draws ever nearer, I stongly urge people to vote. Whether you vote for Bush, Kerry, or anyone else, YOU STILL NEED TO VOTE!! As we saw in the last election, every vote counts. If you haven't registered, it might be too late now, and shame on you. If you don't vote, you don't have the right to complain in the future. As a citizen, you didn't do your part. The government asks two things for citizens to do: Pay taxes and Vote. I'm in India and I did my part to vote. It was a lengthy process to vote absentee; voting at home is incredibly easy. There really is no excuse.

Anyways, I hope that anyone who reads this might be further inspired to vote this year. Let's hope the correct man is elected. DO YOUR PART!!!!

This is an outrage......I wanna protest...

I grew up watching Barry Larkin play for the Reds. His career with them is as old as I am. He's been my favorite player. I can't believe they won't sign him again. It's because of him they were good for the time that they were. Why can't they just give him his 20th year? It's all about business....not loyalty anymore.......

No lark: Reds won't renew Larkin's contract

Oh well, maybe he'll go to some team that can actually make the playoffs.

Holy crap.....just reading this is kinda freaky....

I got this from my cuz's profile......

I thought it was kinda funny......

"Fighting with King Richard in the Crusades. Unfortunately, my father couldn't get me into the National Guard." Robin of Loxley ~ Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

Isn't that nice and applicable to George W. Bush? Also, Compare the Sherriff of Rottingham to Bush... the similarities are incredible.

Voting ballot...

I got my absentee ballot today.  It felt good to vote for President.  I can't say who I voted for though, just to be stupid.  Let's hope whoever I voted for wins...... or at least hope my vote gets counted...... Ha ha..........

Debates

personally, i'm excited for these debates. i think they will be the best chance for kerry to gain his edge. If he doesn't do well, he won't beat Bush. I missed the first debate, but it seems that Kerry did well. I hope these numbers will prove to mean something come election time. But as seen in the last election, numbers mean jack-sh*t.

The Vice Presidential election will be very interesting this year. I am anxious to see Edwards' trial lawyer skills go against Cheney. You never see Cheney too often, but if you watch him, he always looks as he knows what he's talking about. Something we are not used to when we watch Bush speak. Also Cheney just looks like he's gonna explode and start cursing everyone. He reminds me of The Penguin. Just imagine him in a top hat and an umbrella. Seriously, its almost scary......

Madd Funny!!

I found this very funny and creative.......

P--A--R--T--WHY? BECAUSE I GOTTA!!!!

I just got back from Bombay for the weekend (or should I say Mumbai). I just finished exams and my friend and I went to detox cuz med school is a pain. Two months of straight studying. Like minimum 10 hours a day. NO B/S!! Let's hope it pays off.

Anyways, we went from Thursday the 30th to Sunday the 3rd of October. We took a flight from Mangalore to Mumbai. By the way, Jet Airways is the bomb (well, by India standards). The flights were on time and they bumped us up to first class on both ways. First class wasn't much better, but it just sounds good for the trip. In Bombay, we stayed at the Hyatt Regency near the international airport. AWESOME HOTEL!!! It was so cool. The rooms were all marble, glass, and chrome. All the doors were sliding doors and the sinks were like wash basin bowls made of clear glass. The bed was one of the best ever. It was like a giant king sized pillow surrounded by even softer pillows. It was hard to get up and do things, but you know. The room was weird, though. It had no locks anywhere within the room and no drawers or hooks. The bathroom was especially different, but the best part too. When you opened the door, there was a giant recess in the floor. You see a drain, a control faucet, but no shower. Then you look at the cieling. The ceiling is like 13 ft high and there is a shower head coming down from the ceiling! It's falls just like a rain. It was so cool. And it was the perfect after going out in the humidity of Bombay, especially at night. I took like 3 showers a day. Once again though, no locks were on the door. If someone opened it, then they'd get the Full Monty! It was a little disconcerting(?). The room also came with some of the best cookies and chocolate I ever had. The room was awesome.

Now, the food in Bombay was soooo goooood! When we got there, we had the lunch buffet at the hotel. It was awesome. First they have great food in the line, but then they make you pizzas and other stuff at your request! It was great. That night, we went to the Leela hotel. They had an Italian restaurant on the top floor that was awesome. I got the lobster tail, which was the best I had ever had (lobster, that is). It was the perfect thing to get before going out because it was light. On friday, we went to the buffet again for lunch. We just got lazy and decided to go to that. That night, we went to The Taj Mahal Hotel for dinner. This place was baller!! I saw a Maybach!! There was some high-roller birthday party across from the restaurant. Anyways, the restaurant was a Meditteranean Restaurant called Souk. It was really good too. We got the humus. Again, best humus I had ever had. Just awesome. For main course, the mixed grill. It had a little too much meat for me. I didn't realize that when I ordered it. However it was still awesome, but a little too heavy for that night. Then on Saturday, we actually left the hotel for lunch and ate at Subway. Subway was just awesome. It was so good to just have a little taste of home. That night we didn't get dinner, just ordered a club sandwiches to the room. However, these were awesome. They came with awesome fries. If anyone goes to the hotel, I would suggest ordering this sandwich, for sure. That's pretty much it for the food.

As far as doing stuff in the day, we didn't do too much. The first full day, Friday, we did some stuff within the hotel. I got massage that was pretty cool. The gym was awesome. They had separate plasma screens for each treadmill. The weight machines were new and sturdy. The jacuzzi was great too. As far as leaving the hotel, we didn't care too much for shopping, but to spend time we went to the typical tourist shopping areas. We went to Saga, Crossroads, and Phoenix Mills. Saga was the most annoying store I have ever been to in my life. Piece of advice, never accidentally wander into to the cologne/perfume/skin care department. You'll never get out of there alive, or at least smelling like you did when you came in, or even smelling good at all. They just come up to you and spray you with like 10 colognes at once. Then they have the nerve to tell you what skin problems you have, just in order to sell their creams. Just so annoying. Speaking of annoying, my friend tried to explain the meaning of the word to the workers. They couldn't get it though. They just kept spraying. We had to just bugg outta there. Crossroad and Phoenix were pretty much one and the same. They both had Marks & Spencer stores. I love the stuff in that store. I think they have some great clothes. I first saw it when i was in Spain. Crossroads was a little better than Phoenix b/c it had more stores. Phoenix really didn't have much, or at least we didn't see much.

Now for going out at night. There are a lot of places to go out in Bombay. The places that we went to were Rockbottom, Vie Lounge, Provouge Lounge, and Lush. Rockbottom and Vie are both near JW Marriot. They were both okay. We went to them on Thursday. That is why they were kind of dead that night. We went back to Vie on Saturday and it was better. On Friday, we tried going to Athena, near Taj Mahal, but there was a private party so we couldn't get into the club. I was curious about Athena cuz I have heard good things about it. Instead, everyone was going to this club called Polly Esther's. It looked good but they were real strict about letting guys in the club. We ended up going to Phoenix Mills for Provouge and Lush. Provouge was okay as far as club and music goes, but the crowd was real good. We later went to Lush because Provouge got boring. We left Lush b/c we got bored and just went back home. Saturday was kinda crappy becasue we found out that it was a dry day. It was Gandhi's birthday so it was a real seroius dry day. Nobody showed up to the few clubs that were open. We went back to Vie where there was a decent turnout, but not that great. It was kinda dissappointing but it was okay. We still had fun. There were more places to go, but we didn't get time to hit them during the trip. Maybe next time.

However, Mumbai was great. It would even be a lot more fun with a lot of people. We were only two people so it was kinda slow, but it was cool. I'm anxious to go again.

Damn, this was too long a post.
